About Acadia

Acadia National Park, off the northeast coast of Maine, is visited by more than three million people each year, making it one of the most visited national parks in the country; most of those visitors come between the months of May and October. Acadia includes
35,000 acres of public land– a relatively small area when you consider a behemoth like Rocky Mountain National Park is 265,000 acres. But unlike RMNP, Acadia is one of the most accessible of all the national parks. Visitors can drive from one end to the other in about thirty minutes. Even better, Acadia is blessed with a wide variety of landscapes (possibly the most varied in the Park Service), all within minutes of each other– mountains, woods, lakes, a large sandy beach, rivers, streams, the only fjord on the East Coast, and miles and miles of rocky coastline. Is it any wonder then that artists and photographers have always found Acadia so inspiring? *
